Labyrinths and ghosts transport us into imaginative universes where humour and poetry alternate in relentless rhythm. Stains, signs and gestures of strong spontaneity reveal murky scenarios belonging to a dark fairy tale freely inspired by the illustrated book of the same name by Lorenzo Mattotti.
A woman sits motionless. Her faint gesturality traces a path marking the contours of a universe suspended between reality and dream, unfolding a narrative that delves into the memory of the fairy-tale world, evoking symbols and images in which light and darkness assume central roles.
Her story is a noir coming-of-age fable dedicated to doubt and uncertainty, where the essentiality of gesture and a few pastel colours prevail, and where everything expresses precariousness: weight, balance, risk, dualistic conflict and the inescapable longing for an unattainable unified harmony.
As in every coming-of-age fairy tale, the narrative continually returns to the dynamics generated by questioning and by the desire for balance in the face of obstacles, trials to overcome, safe places to reach and order to be conquered.
Abandoning the presumed certainty of a centre, the story launches itself into the precariousness of movement, into the search for a temporary shelter and a plausible order, ultimately returning to us the only possible certainty: that nothing ever remains identical to itself, and that the condition of questioning is the only true path toward growth, transformation and discovery.
