The body — both in its individual dimension and within the experience of collectivity — constitutes the first and most profound instrument through which we relate to the world. Through an aesthetic process understood in its broadest sense, the body gathers knowledge, awareness, communicative capacity and the possibility of narrating the self.

Dance is the practice through which the body can translate this consciousness into its highest form, narrating, sublimating and celebrating life in all its facets and in its deepest human meaning.

This connection becomes especially visible in the many forms of folk dance: celebrations of the passing of time and the changing seasons; expressions of the relationship with nature and between human beings; dances of labour, fatigue, struggle and pain; dances of celebration, serenity and lightness; magical, ritual, expressive and identity-forming practices.

The project Danzando Memorie sul Mare develops its trajectory from inspirations and memories emerging from the rich vocabulary of the musical archives of the Marche region — true living libraries preserving traditions, customs and collective practices. Through workshops and public moments developed in dialogue with local communities, these archives become opportunities to reformulate and reinterpret tradition for the future.

To revisit today the experience of these forms means reconnecting with that wise root from which we all originate, re-informing bodies about their own histories and the contemporary meaning of identity, reconnecting past and present without interruption.

The entire project unfolds through a path of research and practice connected to the experience of movement as a means of knowledge, exploring themes of belonging and memory as bridges between generations.

Within this dialogue between territories and traditions, the practice of movement as a space for investigation, relationship and personal expression becomes the vehicle for a culture of proximity — understood as an investment in quality of life, in the support and enhancement of cultures and singularities, fostering awareness of individual, civic and social identities.

The emotional and physical body reveals itself as a living archive of experience.

The relationship between bodies, between differences, through movement practices that encourage listening to oneself and connection with the other, becomes capable of generating new narratives to which communities may adhere, activating inclusive and heterophilic processes of collaboration.
